Katharine Khamhaengwong is a Netherlands-based writer, editor, and researcher. She has eaten in every province of the Netherlands, spent days searching for traditional snail dishes in Akhaltsikhe, Georgia, and will always order the weirdest thing on the menu so you don’t have to. Her work has appeared in Culinary Backstreets, Eater, Eurasianet, Saveur, the Moscow Times, and elsewhere. She speaks varying degrees of conversational Dutch, Georgian, and Russian. She has an MA in Central Eurasian studies and spent much of her fieldwork period exploring regional food cultures instead of doing her research. Her quest to try every snack available in the Dutch snack bar is ongoing.
